Abstract | Hierarchically Semi Separable (HSS) matrices are (in general) dense matrices that have low rank off-diagonal blocks that can be represented economically. Exploiting a specific structure of HSS representation, fast algorithms have been devised for matrix matrix multiplication, addition and computing a matrix inverse. We are interested in developing fast algorithms for seismic imaging using ideas from this approach. An overview of HSS representation and some methods using HSS representations of operators will be shown in this talk. |
