Abstract

In this presentation we propose a fast imaging algorithm via depth stepping with the two-way wave equation. Within the framework of survey sinking, a stabilized depth extrapolation operator is computed using a spectral projector which can efficiently split evanescent wave components. The computation of the spectral projector features with an Hierarchically Semi-Seperable (HSS) matrix representation speeded up polynomial recursion, resulting in an accleration from cubic numerical complexity to linear numerical complexity.
