Research Area: Inverse problems in exploration geophysics, mainly focus on nonlinear inversion, sparse inversion, seismic deconvolution in frequency domain with sparsity promoting, lateral constraint and wells constraint, spectral reflectivity inversion, multi-traces inverse Q filter, estimation of primaries and/based directional wavelet with sparsity promoting and surface-related multiple constraint, pre-stack inversion with the constraints of wells, seismic data and rock physics, full-waveform inversion; Seismic modeling, mainly focus on seismic modeling with surface topography

About me: Sanyi Yuan received his Ph.D. degree in China University of Petroleum - Beijing in Jul 2011. Since Oct 2011, he has been working in UBC, as a Postdoctoral Fellow of Seismic Laboratory for Imaging and Modeling (SLIM). He received four SEG scholarships and awards. He is a reviewer of the journal of Geophysical Prospecting in 2010 and 2011, and Applied Geophysics in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
